The 38-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty in Port Macquarie Local Court last week to peep or pry, but did not enter a plea to the charge of incite person under 16 years to commit act of indecency.
The man was arrested after allegedly making the approach in a public toilet on the edge of Andrews Park last Tuesday.
The victim looked up and saw the man gazing down from the divider between two toilets, which is when the man made the alleged request.
The boy verbally refused and left the facility, then armed himself with scissors before calling his mother to pick him up.
After the teenager made a statement at Wauchope Police Station, officers found the man in a cubicle about 5pm.
He was arrested and taken to Port Macquarie. Last Wednesday his solicitor applied for bail, arguing her client hadn’t offended “for some three years”.
However, the magistrate refused the application because of the man’s “lengthy record” and history of non-compliance with court orders.
He will appear in court again via audio-visual link next Wednesday, May 27
