With the Blues winning three out of four of the matches they showed that the club as a whole is continuing to be very dominant on the field.
The Ladies League Tag narrowly lost against the well-drilled Forster team. The girls were right in the hunt for a majority of the game but as fatigue kicked in the experience of some of the Forster ladies put the game out of reach for our Wauchope girls.
Anna Lewis was best on park for the Blues, with Emily Lester and Nat Steel also picking up points.
The under 18s, coming off a massive win over Wingham the previous week, started off a little sluggishly and found themselves in a bit of an arm wrestle with Forster in the first half.
With both sides giving away silly penalties, no one really took a grasp of the game. However after a rev up in the sheds at half time the second half showed us more of what this young Blues side is capable of.
The big Blues forward pack dominated and showed that they have a bit of speed to back them up, with long-range breaks made on a number of occasions. The young guns kept Forster scoreless in the second half and took the game out 28-8. Jacob Mcgrath was best for the Blues, with Tim Mckinnon also picking up points for his gallant effort.
The Blues reserve grade had another convincing win at the weekend which impressed the Wauchope supporters. The team is strong right across the park and it shows in their defence, which has been keeping teams in the weeks gone by to low scores.
The Blues reserves had a bit of a slow start to the game but once they found a weakness in the Forster defence they went on the attack. Blues 5/8th Blake Hart teamed up with second rower Drew Bartlett down the left edge, putting the Forster defence into disarray.
Bartlett walked away with two tries, which in turn earned him man of the match. The reserves won the game 32-12, which leaves them in second place on the competition ladder.
Justin Laurie had his first graders back to full strength against a strong Forster side. The return of Adam McMurray boosted the forward pack, and with Nick McCabe's return to the halves his kicking game was invaluable for the Blues.
It was a low-scoring affair, with the two teams caught in an arm wrestle. Finding it hard to cross the line the Blues on two occasions opted to take a kick at penalty goals, and with Sam Watts converting both it gave the Blues an eight-point buffer.
However, in true form of the game Forster bounced back and in the last five minutes found themselves within four points of the lead.
The Blues dug deep and held out Forster to win the game 14-10. Try-scorers were Sam Watts and Jed Seymour, with Watts kicking three from four. Beau Kettle was named man of the match.
The Blues now comfortably hold second place on the Group 3 ladder.
