Wauchope Fire Station captain Rob Pursehouse said while there was a lot of thick black smoke, the fire was contained to the business premises opposite Wauchope Waste Transfer Station and the factory only incurred minor damage.
No one was injured.
The fire potentially started as a result of sparks while cutting metal.
"Thankfully, staff called 000 quickly and stayed a safe distance from the fire whilst using extinguishers and hoses until we arrived," Mr Pursehouse said.
