The town’s newest attraction adds to a growing list of beautification projects undertaken by council, the Wauchope Place Making Champions team, Wauchope Chamber of Commerce, Wauchope Community Arts Group, Wauchope Progress Association and local volunteers.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Mayor Peter Besseling said the map was sure to become a major attraction for the local community and tourists alike.
“Wauchope is really coming of age as a destination of choice, with its wonderful facilities, vibrant CBD atmosphere and popular attractions,” Cr Besseling said.
“It is a credit to the many passionate local community groups, artists Jo Davidson and Stephen Killick and volunteers that this new addition to Wauchope has become a reality”.
The mural complements the recently installed planter boxes in High Street and banners at the gateway to the CBD.
Hastings Co-op CEO Allan Gordon said “in this mural we've created a seed that is a tiny catalyst where people from both far and near will plan their adventures, fulfil dreams and create memories".
"This mural will become part of the fabric of this community, and this community will be forever appreciative of the foresight of those who had the vision and to those who had the creative skills to turn that vision into reality”.
