Wauchope's proud history as a strong rugby league club was reinforced the day before when the U14s defeated Forster-Tuncurry (see back page).
From the beginning of the season it was clear the U18s were hot contenders - and now they've secured the Blues' first U18s premiership in 12 years.
They faced a dangerous Old Bar side which had upset teams all the finals series.
Old Bar were first to score, but the Blues hit back with a try to Lauchie Binskin.
The first half was a nail-biting battle, with the teams going try for try.
The local lads had a 10-point lead going into half time, which set them up for a big second half performance.
Old Bar managed to claw their way back into the game and were actually in front with only 10 minutes left on the clock.
Luckily, our young guns resorted to a set play that has worked for them on numerous occasions throughout the year.
Tim McKinnon was the hero of the day when he scored just to the right hand side of the posts to lock the scores up at 22 all.
Curtly Scott had the nerve racking job of converting, which he did with ease, giving the Blues a two point lead heading into the final three minutes.
With time almost out, it was Curtly Scott who impressed with the boot once again, slotting a field goal.
The final score was 27- 22, completing the U18s fairytale year.
The Blues' try scorers included Willy Baker, Jono Ostler and Kobi Hugen. Hugen also bagged player of the grand final.
While the U18s and U14s celebrated wins to top off magic seasons, the Wauchope Blues' Ladies League Tag team - and defending premiers - were unlucky to take the top prize.
To defend their title, they faced an equally determined Taree City Bulls team.
The Wauchope girls had a slow start to the game and it appeared nerves were getting the better of them in the first 10 minutes.
With out of character mistakes being made, the Taree team swooped on every opportunity and Wauchope went to the half time break trailing 0-10.
In the second half, the ladies were a lot more composed and started playing more to their ability.
Defensively they improved out of sight and managed to keep the Bulls scoreless.
Needing two tries to steal the game, Wauchope went on the attack and managed to find the line through Larissa Ward.
Captain/coach Belinda Andersen was unable to convert, taking the score to 10-4.
As the clock ticked down it was time that would play a major factor against the girls.
The Blues tried everything they could to break the Bulls defence but just couldn't find the elusive try line.
The full time siren rang and Taree City secured their first league tag grand final since the competition started seven years ago.
