Construction work is anticipated to start in early 2016 on Wauchope RSL Club's highly-anticipated Cameron Grange project after receiving development application approval on September 16.
Comprising 48 luxury apartments and four commercial suites in stages one and two, the project is a major boost not just for the club, but the local economy.
Secretary manager Wayne Saley said "the club is extremely excited about council approving the development application."
"This development will not only future-proof the club, but will provide a significant boost to the whole township," he told the Gazette.
The club will fund the project and has engaged Touchstone Property Solutions to manage the development on their behalf.
One of the most significant features of Cameron Grange is the club's "insistence on using local trades and suppliers wherever possible as we view this as a community project".
Mr Sealey said the spacious apartments have already begun selling off the plan and interest is expected to skyrocket now the DA approval has been approved.
The development of lifestyle apartments will provide much needed accommodation for retirees, but is a brave departure from the traditional mainstream business of club operation - a move expected to secure the club's future.
The location is ideal, as it will be adjacent to the club and within walking distance of shops, restaurants, medical surgeries and the Hastings River.
