Branch president Drusi Megget said a five-year program of cuts imposed by the Abbott government was causing damage to the national broadcaster.
"Over 300 people have lost their jobs and there are more job cuts to come.
"Hundreds of millions of dollars have been taken from the ABC budget.
"Funding for the ABC has declined sharply over 30 years," Ms Megget said.
Ms Megget said regional Australia is also suffering from a loss of local news.
"Another issue that ABC Friends find concerning is the political bias in the appointment of ABC Board members.
"The ABC is not designed to make a profit but deliver a service.
"ABC Friends advocate an independent and transparent process for appointments to the ABC Board and the new CEO in 2016," she said.
Ms Megget said ABC TV's average weekly reach last year was 58 per cent of the five-city metropolitan market.
"Opinion polls commissioned by the ABC show a large majority of Australians - 84 per cent - trust the ABC and think the ABC performs a valuable role and produces quality content.
"We highly value our ABC and we want the government to provide strong financial support for the ABC, backed up by statements of support," she said.
