Christmas came early for three Wauchope community groups when Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey announced a number of successful projects in the latest round of the NSW Government's Community Building Partnership grants.

Oxley MP Melinda Pavey visited each group last week to deliver the happy news.
The Hastings Gateway project will receive $30,000 to kick-start the community lead restoration of the heritage-listed Wauchope Station Master's Cottage, which was also the local Magistrates court and lock-up.
"This is a fantastic example of how Community Building Partnerships can benefit the wider community and bring people together to pitch in and make an effort to rebuild and restore an aging community asset," Mrs Pavey said.
Chairman Don Neal said the group had been "working very hard in the background for some time to bring this project to fruition and this grant will enable us to begin the major restoration works".
Another recipient was Wauchope Timbertown Tennis Club, which received $32,375 to continue the local club's efforts in upgrading the aging facility.
The courts in River Street are Wauchope's main tennis facility and major improvements, funded mainly by the community, have been developing over a number of years.
The community building partnership project includes court resurfacing with synthetic turf that will clearly indicate lines and boundaries.
"These funds will go a long way in helping the club, as well as the hundreds of children that utilise the facility each year, to have world class facilities and grow an important sport in our region," Mrs Pavey said.
The third local group to receive funding was Wauchope Preschool Kindergarten Inc, which is a community based not-for-profit early childhood education centre.
