Liverpudlian Tony Wilson has handed the reins over to Mick Brown, who hails from Bracknell, about 65 kilometres west of London.
Brown is excited and itching to get things underway.
Good results were scattered throughout FC's season last year. The blue boys knocked off both of the previous year's grand finalists - Port United and Wallis Lake - but notched up just two other victories throughout the season.
The team finished in ninth place, with 15 points. The only team below FC was Taree Wildcats.
Brown, who was an assistant coach at FC last year, is confident the team can turn it all around this year and do well in the league.
"There could be better to come," he said.
"It only depends on the players."
He wants to get on the front foot immediately, but stressed that success might not come straight away.
"It's a work in progress," Brown said.
More players is his immediate aim, along with the growth of the senior core group.
A plus for FC this year will be the involvement of goalkeeper coach Michael Mikolajzcyk. He'll be invaluable for the custodians at the club.
FC president Chris Barlow wished Brown all the best.
He said the new coach was well placed to take over from Wilson.
"We're not placing any pressure on him," Barlow said.
"We've got a plan to finish mid-table. We're not expecting him to take us back to the finals straight away."
Wilson echoed Barlow's sentiments.
"I wish him all the best," Wilson said.
He was keen to stay involved with the club.
"I'll stay on in some capacity," Wilson said.
"I might do reserves or something."
FC has a trial match against Cooks Hill, from Newcastle, pencilled in for late January.
