The cavalcade of shows to hit the stage this year includes Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Imperial Russian Ballet, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, Noni Hazlehurst in Mother, Opera Australia, Bell Shakespeare, Taikoz, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Sydney Dance Company and even a unique theatrical experience of the 1960s cult film The Little Shop of Horrors.
"From the Australia Ballet to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow, Bell Shakespeare to a dinosaur zoo and everything in between, our community has embraced the performing arts and an ever-diversifying offering of shows and events - and in 2016 that includes accessing live festivals in metropolitan centres as they happen," Mayor Peter Besseling said.
For the first time, the season program includes 'satellite' festivals'.
This follows on from the huge success of the 2015 Sydney Writers Festival, which was hosted at the Glasshouse and sponsored by the Port Macquarie-Hastings Libraries.
In March, the Glasshouse will host a live stream direct from All About Women at the Sydney Opera House and also Sydney Writers Festival from the Ros Packer Theatre in Walsh Bay.
