However, residents who live on Rocks Ferry Road are not happy with the current state of the reserve.
According to residents such as Greg Elliott, who has been in his home opposite the river for 30 years, there is a lot of work to be done with the council urged to gather input from the public as to what they feel needs to be done.
"The river bank has all fallen away and has been like that since April last year," he said.
"We desperately need it to be rock faced, the sooner the better. "The council have had a surveyor, who came out three times in three days last year, so that they could go ahead and do the rock facing.
"I would say the problem may be finance, however it still needs to be done."
Overgrown weeds and plants are another issue for Mr Elliott.
"All of what has been planted here is supposed to be at a certain height however it's not," he said.
"It is over grown and not looked after at all. I want to request that they take it all out and put in three drop tiers.
"We want to be able to enjoy the riverbank, like we use to way back when."
Mr Elliott stressed the importance of the very beautiful landscape that the reserve offers.
"It is a very important place. There are so many people who walk here, bring their children, groups visit to admire the view - it is forever being used," he said.
"We don't want to start losing the bank. Thankfully this year we haven't had a flood but ultimately we want to clean this up, tier it, get it all rock faced where it desperately need it and to ensure it will be around for a long time to come."
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council was contacted for comment but declined to be interviewed on the issue.
"There is really nothing to add at this stage except to say that a meeting occurred today (Tuesday February 9) with interested Rocks Ferry local residents," a council spokesperson said.
There will be two more meetings for residents to attend. They will be on Monday March 23 at 10.30am and Wednesday April 13 at 2pm, meeting at the reserve.
