Youth driven group, Footprints in Ag's Dance 4 Drought event raised over $5000 for the charity Aussie Helpers.

President and founder of Footprints in Ag Ashley Olsen delivered a speech to open the night.

"It is easy for us on the coast to lose perspective on the issue of drought, especially as we look outside tonight," she said the rainy Saturday evening.

"As our Footprints in Ag youth committee members were setting up in the rain yesterday, we were laughing about the irony of hosting a Dance 4 Drought event after receiving close to 80mm of rain.

"It is important for us to remember that whilst we are blessed with this coastal rainfall, 80 per cent of Queensland remains drought declared.

"Our Australian Farmers cannot feed the world if they can't first feed themselves. Our Australian farmers very rarely ask for out help although they do appreciate the help when it turns up at their door."

Entertainment on the night was provided by Angus Gill, Hannah Lee Pead and Caitlyn Shadbolt. An address was given by member for Oxley Melinda Pavey, who praised the enthusiasm and dedication from the young committee.

Later in the evening a charity auction was led by auctioneers Nick West of Gloucester and Sam Ritchie of Inverell.

Sam and Nick's professional auctioneering teamed with their country humour was a highlight of the night.

The night was catered by the dedicated Wauchope Show society.

"We have received some fantastic feedback and are fortunate to have so much support from our local communities, local businesses and show societies," said Ashley.

"Footprints in Ag will continue to facilitate and support our members to get involved in their local agricultural shows and promote our local agricultural industries and country show movements."
