With around 80 members, the longstanding club has just finished the facelift on the northern four courts, and the club is hopeful that the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council will be able to help out with costs of the remaining three courts.
Vice President Don Berry says the 15 year old courts desperately needed work.
"They were starting to perforate and split, so from a safety point of view it wasn't ideal and also from a playing point of view.We got a few quotes and eventually settled on a Taree Court Services. The cost was $96,000 but with the help of volunteers and the committee the contractor helped us out by knocking some off of that."
The club also received a grant from the state government for $32,000 with the remaining money coming from their own funds.
"It's exciting to have had the courts refurbished and all of the members are pleased with the result. We hope that it will bring in more members for us. We've got two coaches on board now - Greg Alchin and Bob Hough - who will assist with the coaching of juniors. Something we are looking to do in the future is to hold junior competitions but for now we need to build up our base of players," says Don.
Oxley MP, Melinda Pavey was delighted to be at the opening ceremony.
"This is what Community Building Partnership grants are all about - supporting amazing communities with excellent projects. Tennis is a game for young and old and we put in good courts together with the help of the members."
