Beechwood Cricket President Darren McCudden said:
“Rod was very humble in accepting it and thanked the Hastings Senior Cricket Association and Port Juniors President Gary Humphreys for their generosity.”
The money was raised during the HRDCA Presentation Night generated from the raffle and auctions.
Rod was flown to Ryde Hospital on Thursday for intensive physio.
A few months ago he was struck down with a nasty infection in his leg that also found its way into his spine and caused immense pain. He was subsequently airlifted to Newcastle and underwent immediate emergency surgery on his spine and knee to remove the infection.
Family, friends and supporters look forward to seeing Rod on his feet and walking again soon.
