The Blues girls went on a point scoring frenzy to win the game 69 points to nil.
There was even a field goal in the mix kicked by half back Emily Lester on the stroke of half time. Larissa Ward was a stand out in the win bagging four individual tries with Kristy Roods and Tori Marr-Harris also having solid performances.
The team was boosted by the return of the Lewis sisters Anna and Holly who both had exceptional games.
The East Coast Dolphins league tag side will also play the second round of the country championships this weekend in Dubbo and best of luck to the Wauchope ladies in that team Kristy Roods, Nat Hurrel, Emily Lester and Larissa Ward.
The under 18s also had a solid win proving that they remain serious contenders in the competition.
Coach Brad Maggs has said he is proud of the grit and determination his side is starting to show, “they dig deep for each other and know what needs to be done to win a game of footy” Maggs said on his team’s efforts.
Kobi Hugen was named best on the paddock as he continues to tear apart defensive lines with his strong no holding back running style. Jesse Rullis also picked up points for his effort in the 36-4 victory.
This win sits the Blues in fourth spot on the ladder however they share the same points as second and third, so the top four teams are all in the hunt.
The winning run ended for the Blues after the 18’s with reserve grade and first grade unable to get over the Wingham Tigers.
Reserve grade went down 28-6 as they struggled to get a dominant start on the Tigers. Coach Dustin Prosser putting the loss down to lack of numbers at training.
“To be a team that wins together we first need to be mates and train together,” Prosser said on what he thinks is the problem with the team having “hit and miss” performances.
First grade were in for a challenge when they took on the unbeaten Wingham side and without rep players Beau Kettle and Mat Bird.
The Blues were boosted by the return of five eighth Nick McCabe after he had knee surgery earlier this year.
However the return of one player wasn’t good enough to overcome a Wingham team who are flying high on confidence and playing good football.
The Blues made too many mistakes which gave them no chance of giving the Tigers a run for their money. The final score was 40 to 12.
The Blues will now take on the Port City Breakers this Saturday at the Regional stadium Port Macquarie with games starting at 11.30am.
