Chrissy Sanders and Fiona Hayward took on a personal challenge in memory of their dear friend Taegan, by competing in the 9km Sydney Harbour Bridge Run in September last year. The pair used the event to raise funds in Taegan’s memory, with an impressive $1435 donated to their appeal.
The donation will be used to enhance the Palliative Care Unit’s garden, where Taegan exchanged wedding vows with her fiancé just days before she passed away last June.
Taegan’s sister, Sarina McNamara joined Fiona to deliver the generous donation to the Wauchope Palliative Care Unit last week, where it was gratefully received by Acting Nurse Unit Manager Jodie Gallagher and Executive Officer/Director of Nursing Ann Bodill.
Fiona said Taegan’s family has nothing but praise and gratitude for the amazing staff at the Palliative Care Unit.
“The family is so pleased with the way Taegan was looked after during her time at Wauchope. The staff there went above and beyond to make her final days comfortable.
“We are hoping this donation will help to create a beautiful garden in an area which holds such special memories for us all.
“We hope it will be an even more peaceful and inviting place for patients and their families to spend time in.” Fiona said.
