Northern NSW Football have made her Football Mid North Coast’s Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Month.
Rebecca was nominated by Wauchope Soccer Club for her ongoing commitment and dedication to football over many years of service.
And she is thrilled.
The best thing is that hopefully it will make other people think: hey, we could do that too.
“It’s awesome. The best thing is that hopefully it will make other people think: hey, we could do that too.”
Rebecca has shown huge dedication to Wauchope Soccer Club for many years now, and hopes that her four sons, who are members, will do more for it when they’re older.
“Our numbers are increasing, which is great, and our Gala Day attracted 69 teams.” she said.
Rebecca never expected to get anything for her years of service to the club, where she’s been involved for almost ten years, since her sons began playing there, at various levels.
Wauchope Soccer Club has 400 members, but just a tiny committee, and Rebecca hopes more people will join.
Community Football manager Peter Haynes said Rebecca’s passion and commitment go a long way to ensuring that Wauchope Soccer Club is a great place to play football, and highlights how valuable she is to the club.
And Newcastle Permanent’s Port Macquarie Branch Manager, Adam Power, congratulated Rebecca on winning the award. “We are delighted that a local volunteer has received this award and been recognised across Northern NSW for the incredible commitment they make to community football,” he said.
Rebecca will receive a volunteer jacket and bag, courtesy of Newcastle Permanent.
Newcastle Permanent is the major partner of Community Football across Northern NSW and has partnered with NNSWF since 2008, supporting the High Performance Program and Junior Football Program.
Newcastle Permanent’s investment in football is one of its most important community partnerships.
It includes recognition programs, such as the volunteer of the month, Newcastle Permanent Community Coach of the Month, Newcastle Permanent Community Club of the Year, training tools for community coaches and volunteers, as well as the distribution of over 9,000 free balls to young players.
