Dr David Gillespie, Member for Lyne launched the newly-built facility, where Stabilcorp will make the ShoulderMaster – Australia’s first skid steer paver attachment, designed to widen the shoulders of dangerous and narrow roads.

The opening of the facility will bring a chance for future jobs in the manufacturing sector, which has seen a significant downturn in recent years.

Managing director Peta Pinson says the confidence the company has in the product, and the future opportunities they see on offer through the Australian government  will no doubt allow Stabilcorp to grow.

“We hope to expand, with apprenticeship and job creation being our intention to help us build on the ShoulderMaster brand,” she said.

Peta believes Stabilcorp is a small business success story, with the development of the ShoulderMaster, and the next phase of their business plan coming to fruition.

The product recently made it to the finals of the Good Design Awards Australia, held in Sydney, in the commercial and industrial category.  It’s getting nationwide attention, with its purpose of helping the government reduce serious injury and deaths on our roads.

Stabilcorp hopes it will be bought by Federal and State government agencies, as well as contracting companies.  “That’s who we have build it for, and the contractors who do road repairs, including Stabilcorp.” said Peta Pinson.

The company opened in Wauchope in 2012 and has 14 staff and the launch of the ShoulderMaster is all about growing that number.

“We hope to be successful enough to outgrow the new facility for the product, which has only just come on the market. We are only starting our commercialisation journey,” she said.

David Gillespie was very impressed with the machine. “This is an inventive piece of local engineering that will deliver savings to every local government and road department around the country, in terms of labour and costs,” he said.
