Oxley MP Melinda Pavey came to the school on Monday to announce its share of a record capital and maintenance spend.
On a tour of a modern lab and a very out-of-date one, she said: “Science and engineering are growth industries for the future, and we need first-class facilities for our students.”
We are trying to get away from people having to crowd around old work benches, so this is very welcome.

School principal Glenn Sawle said the school badly needed another modern science lab.
“We are trying to get away from people having to crowd around old work benches, so this is very welcome,” he added.
Local public schools will all benefit from the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government’s major investment in school infrastructure, announced in last month’s State Budget.
$554 million will be spent in 2016-17, an increase of 37% on last year’s expenditure.
The capital works and priority school maintenance projects in Oxley include the science lab upgrade in Wauchope High and an energy supply upgrade in Wauchope Public School, as well as projects in Melville, Bellingen and Gladstone.
The 2016-17 Budget includes an allocation of $330 million over two years to address priority maintenance needs in schools, including $31.17 million for schools in the North Coast region.
