The successful CareerPathways program offering social housing tenants training and work opportunities in the disability and aged care sectors is being expanded to the Mid-North Coast. The project aims to break the cycle of inter-generational unemployment by helping vulnerable community members to get training.
It helps participants through mentoring, literacy, numeracy, and soft skills training in communication, motivation, and resilience. Opportunities will arise in other industry sectors with skills shortages. See www.training.nsw.gov.auor www.housing.nsw.gov.au
New funds to bring big shows to small towns
Community halls and sports clubs in regional NSW towns can host theatre, music and dance performances thanks to the new Community Presenter Touring program.
It will give grants to help regional community groups stage shows where there are no professionally-run performing arts venues. Community groups, individuals or organisations that contract, organise, manage and promote touring performances at community-run venues, can apply. First round applications close September 20.
