Peter is joined by Wauchope local, Mark Hughes, a union official with the Australian Workers Union, Andrew Blundell, TAFE Librarian and Karen Wiles from Crosslands, a social worker with Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
Mr Alley said the council needs more diversity – both geographic and social.
“This team provides both,” he said. “The Camden Haven is conspicuously absent from the council table and this team provides the best opportunity for the Camden Haven to get that seat at the table.
“Our ticket provides a mix of strong leadership and strong ties to the local community. We bring experience and expertise from small and large business and the non profit sector, education, health, the environment, industrial relations and community organisations.
“We will bring energy and ideas to the new council.”
Peter Alley lives in Dunbogan. He has a background in IT, banking, finance and telecommunications in both large organisations and in the community sector.
He is currently studying Law at Southern Cross University. Peter was the Labor candidate for the recent federal election for the seat of Lyne. Peter ran for council in 2012 and missed by one vote.
Peter is a parish councillor and treasurer for the Camden Haven Anglican Church.
Mark Hughes is a Wauchope resident and is married with three children. Mark has 15 years experience as a heavy vehicle mechanic and is currently a union official with the Australian Workers Union.
“In my role as a union official, I am an advocate for workers. I have been an advocate for this community, working with the community to keep Wauchope train station properly staffed. I want to take my take my community involvement to the next level and see that running for council is the next logical step.”
Andrew Blundell is married and lives in Port Macquarie. As a librarian with TAFE NSW, he is passionate about libraries, vocational education and the benefit of TAFE to our education system. Andrew is a member and president of the Port Macquarie dragon boat club and is passionate about our local environment and waterways.
Karen Wiles, a Wauchope resident, is married with 4 children. As a social worker with the Port Macquarie Base Hospital, Karen has a good insight into how the government at all levels can impact both negatively and positively on people in our community.
Having close family members with physical and intellectual disabilities, Karen is passionate about social justice in our community.
