Both agreed to share their stories during Brain Injury Awareness Week, which runs from August 15-21, 2016.
Kurtis was lucky to survive a car accident that left him with numerous fractures and a traumatic brain injury.
After a series of seizures, Kerry was diagnosed with parasites in the brain and underwent brain surgery in February last year.
“It has been a slow progression to recovery and I’ve had to face many challenges,” Kurtis said.
To keep himself on track, he adopted the mantra; “To those with determination, there are no limits.”
Kerry has also experienced frustration and sadness on her road to recovery.
“This has been the most defining event in my life,” she said.
On Tuesday August 16, 2016 Kurtis and Kerry were proudly inducted into what the Mid North Coast Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (MNCBIR) has labelled their ‘Gallery of Greatness’, which is made up of a series of inspiring client stories hung on the wall.
