One of them is six-year-old Port Macquarie mare Flying Kistena, trained by Neil Godbolt, which was in the feature Camden Haven Cup at home on Saturday but luckily was accepted for Coffs Harbour Race Club’s TAB meeting on Monday and had an easy win there over 1400m,paying $9.
It is among a good line-up in the Benchmark 65 Handicap over 1450m and providing she can back up,must rate highly in her good form, having also won over 1200m at Tuncurry on July 16 in a new campaign.
Her price was exceptional at Coffs Harbour as the mare was only beaten 3.8 lengths when 8th behind No Bad Blood in the feature $30,000 Hopkins-Livermore Cup over 1400m at the second day of the Taree Cup Carnival on August 19.
Wauchope’s hopes probably rest on eight-year-old gelding Rigamarole, trained by Colt Prosser,it having won the last two Woop Woop Cups but is finding it hard to win this preparation.
It was 7th behind Flying Kistena at Tuncurry and then was 4.1 lengths behind Buck Rogers over 1400m at Moree on July 21 after being well back early in the run before grabbing fifth.
Six-year-old gelding Blonic Hill, trained at Walcha by George Woodward, was ninth in that Moree race and like Rigamarole,it missed out racing at Port on Saturday.
Another to miss out was seven-year-old gelding Prakticality, trained at Taree by Tess Wilkes,it being nominated for the Benchmark 60 Handicap over 1900m,and is in solid form.
It also raced at the Taree Cup Carnival and was beaten less than a length by Ice Storm over 2000m and will be having its first run at Warwick Park Racecourse.
Taree eight-year-old gelding Wollartant, trained by Ross Stitt, came in for heavy betting support in a 1600m race where it was sixth at Taree last start and has won up to 2012m.
Godbolt has nominated smart Artova in the Benchmark 60 Handicap over 1000m and before going for a spell it won a series of races as a youngster.
The three-year-old filly has had six starts for four wins and a second.
