Motorists travelling on the Pacific Highway between Kew and Port Macquarie will benefit from an improved road surface with work to rebuild a 6.5 kilometre section of the highway completed on Monday.

Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams said the NSW Government invested $14 million to strengthen the road, providing a safer, smoother highway surface for road users.
“This important project was carried out by Roads and Maritime Services and will reduce the need for maintenance on this section of the highway,” Mrs Williams said.
“The project started in April and involved removing the existing road surface, sealing and placing new asphalt.
“Southbound traffic was moved to the northbound overtaking lane in May to ensure motorists and workers were safe during construction,” Mrs Williams said.
“Traffic was moved back to the rebuilt southbound lanes yesterday morning.
“Roads and Maritime is grateful to the community and road users who have been patient and supportive during the six-month project. It is a great credit to them and now they can reap the rewards,” Mrs Williams said.
The project was funded by the NSW Government’s Asset Maintenance program.
