Rotary e-Club of NextGen, formed in 2012, has a membership base from all over the world, including Japan, Germany, the US and Dubai. The club’s President is Wauchope businessman Peter Saville who, with fellow e-Club members from the Hastings, donated the knitted baby clothes, blankets and teddies to the volunteers who raise funds to support Wauchope District Memorial Hospital.
“e-clubs are another option in Rotary for busy professionals,” Mr Saville said.
“Members attend an online forum once a week to discuss community and service projects. The online club is a way to encourage younger people who are busy with university, families and work to get into Rotary.
“Because we’re an e-club, we are worldwide in our membership. Volunteers can also connect online, see what we do and often want to help us, which is what happened with the knitwear.
“We recently donated booties, bonnets, jackets and smaller items for premature babies to the Maternity Unit at Port Macquarie Base Hospital. We also wanted to show our support for Wauchope Hospital, which is why we are donating an assortment of knitted items to the Hospital Volunteers.
“The group works tirelessly to support our local hospital; purchasing medical equipment and improving patient amenity so it is a privilege to be able to help the volunteers by providing them with quality items they can sell at their regular fundraising stalls.
“The funds they raise from the sale of the baby clothes, teddies and blankets will come back to the hospital to support patients.”
Wauchope Hospital Volunteers President Roger Adams said he was delighted to receive the generous gift.
“We are always looking for quality items to sell at our stalls. The beautiful, hand-knitted items donated by the e-Club of NextGen will no doubt prove very popular with shoppers and will help us continue to make a significant contribution to Wauchope Hospital,” Mr Adams said.
