RSL registered their first win of the season last weekend while the Magpies are still after their first.
Both teams clash on Saturday at Andrews Park in a rematch of last year’s grand final.
Magpies captain Kyle Bray said a lack of concentration was costing his side, but he remained confident of turning it around.
“I’m not too concerned just yet,” he said.
“It’s just those lapses that are costing us; the boys switch off for five minutes here and there and that’s when the opportunities come.
“You can’t do that in first grade.”
Wauchope captain Matt Day said their early season success had been built on the back of their batting.
“It’s a strange one because our batting for the first two rounds has been super,” the captain said.
“Previously our bowling has been our strong point and despite having arguably a stronger bowling lineup this year we’ve still got some work to do.”
The club is in a good position when it can look at its second-grade side and see players like Mick Gough and Jade Thompson. Gough hit 92 against Pirates last week.
“We’ve got that depth this year with those guys in seconds who wouldn’t look out of place in firsts,” he said.
Macquarie Hotel will look to continue their perfect start to the season when they host Port Pirates.
Pirates face Macquarie at a good time, with James Terrett, Michael Pelley and Liam Coelho all expected to miss the game.
Terrett has started with a bang this season, claiming 8-25 in his first two games.
Macquarie captain Josh Hyde expected Pirates to bounce back from their disappointing performance last weekend.
“They’re one of those gritty sides who will stay in the game so we’ll need to put them away if we get the chance,” he said.
Chris Cole and Sam Ward will also be better for having a hit in the last couple of weeks.
Brendan Badenoch will have an important role to play with the new ball to make up for the absence of Terrett.
Pirates captain Paul Stait knows the key to his side compiling a competitive total rested again on the performance of their top order.
“Macquarie are one of the strongest teams going around and have been for many years,” he said.
“With Badenoch on board they’re the team to beat, but it’s all about damage limitation with them.
“If they get on a roll early they can go through you so we need to get through the first spell as best we can so hopefully the blokes at the top can go well.”
Pirates have the addition of Ryan McMahon in at the top of the order.
“We’ve got Ryan back so it’s always handy to have a bloke who scores a hundred that comes back into your side,” he said.
“It’s his first game of the season. There’s no pressure on him.”
