It is held on Christmas Day each year and provides a great atmosphere for anyone who is alone or without family.
The event has been held at Town Beach Park, near the skate park, for over ten years. Organisers are expecting over 600 guests to enjoy the day of celebration, with great food, games and events.
The day begins at 10.30am and winds up at 3pm. There will be snacks, drinks, lollies, a smorgasbord lunch and even a visit from Santa. The day is completely free and everyone is welcome to come.
With such an event comes the need for over 100 volunteers, not only for the event but before and after as well.
Any one who would like to volunteer can fill in a volunteer application at the church, located on 40 Munster Street, Port Macquarie, or online at www.portcitychurch.org.au/Christmas.
It is supported by the Port Macquarie Hastings Council, local businesses and the community as a whole.
“Without all the help the event would not happen and there would be a lot of people spending Christmas Day alone,” said organiser Karen Davies.
“For many guests and volunteers this is the highlight of their year.”
Finances and donations of gifts are also needed with anyone able to help urged to contact the church on 6584 6570, or phone Karen Davies on 0449 752 566.
