At the meeting of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council on October 19 at Laurieton local Allen Bradford spoke passionately about the rough condition of the stretch near the intersection of Sirius Drive.
“"It's the entrance to Camden Haven from the highway. It's not a good introduction for visitors,” he said during the public forum.
The council’s director of infrastructure and asset management, Jeffery Sharp, said the council is in the planning phase of work for the stretch from Fairwinds to Mountain View Road.
“With Stingray Creek Bridge nearing completion, this is an important project and is the is high on the works list,” Mr Sharp said.
The council is investigating detailed pavement design requirements to upgrade and reseal the road pavement.
The project has been allocated funding as part of Council’s 2016/17 Rehabilitation Reseal Program and a commencement date will be provided once detailed pavement designs are complete.
"It's a significant amount of work, as most would appreciate," Mr Sharp said at the council meeting.
In 2014, Ocean Drive at Lakewood was voted the worst road in the area by an NRMA survey.
Beechwood Road at Crosslands came in as the second, followed by Houston Mitchell Drive at Bonny Hills.
Survey respondents labelled Ocean Drive at Lakewood as "awful and under high usage" with a "rough as guts road surface".
