All Pappinbarra residents affected by the fires are invited to a Rural Fire Service Debrief and Agency Meeting at Hollisdale Hall at 7pm on Thursday (February 16).
Registering for stock feed requirements starts at 5.30 pm and there’s a free BBQ.
The Hastings community continues to support those affected by fires. Parents donated fresh food and made sandwiches at Beechwood Public School canteen.
And volunteers at Wauchope Showground spent the day sorting donations of water, food, pet food, clothing, bedding and toiletries as well as toys and books for children.
Caretaker Dave Reeves from the Wauchope Show Society says it’s humbling to see people come from all over the Hastings with goods for those unfortunate enough to be caught up in the bushfires.
“The entire community has been shoulder-to-shoulder. Wauchope Vets are treating animals in distress, free.
“The Department of Primary Industries have dropped food at the Showground so anyone who needs to feed and water animals can come and do so.
“The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service have offered to come and cook food any time of the day and night. The Show Society staff, who are volunteers, have been amazing.
“The Hastings Co-op have been outstanding, delivering food to Beechwood School and Hollisdale, and helping any way they can.”
Wauchope Rotary, Wauchope Lions and Wauchope RSL are all working behind the scenes to help those in need.
