Wauchope Lions Sports foundation have given financial help to a rising futsal star, Emily McKenzie from Comboyne.

Emily has been selected to play in  the Australian U17 Girls Futsal Soccer team.

They will be touring the USA and playing teams from San Francisco and San Jose in July this year.

Stephen Perkins Sports Foundation Chairman said the Lions club are happy to be able to help lighten the high financial cost that comes with competing at an international level.

“That is only made possible with the support from long term sponsors, such as Griffiths Traders, Bago Road, Wauchope,” said Mr Perkins.

“Our club members also cooked the Bar B Q  at the fundraiser which was held at  Comboyne Services Club on Sunday, and money from the food sold was donated as well,” he added.

Players are selected based on their ability, attitude and consistency, which determines their suitability to represent themselves as an Australian Futsal player.
