On Monday February 20, a group of Year 5 and 6 students represented the school at the Zone Winter Sports Trials in Port Macquarie in a variety of sports.
Two students were selected in the Rugby Union team. Aiden Hill and Blake Haywood will head to the Diocesan selection trials in Grafton this week.
“Congratulations to all students who participated in the day, and good luck to the boys this week,” said sports co-ordinator Kim Latimore.
On Tuesday February 21, 32 students went to Macksville to represent St Joseph’s, Wauchope in the Zone Swimming Carnival.
“Students are to be commended on their sportsmanship and the way they conducted themselves on the day,” said Mrs Latimore.
Grace Smith, who only started swimming two years ago, came first in the 9 years 100m freestyle.
“I try to swim like I run – fast,” she said.
Annabelle Paynting, who came third in the 11 years 50m breaststroke, says she loves competing.
“We meet other kids and it’s good fun,” she said.
Brendan Walsh came second in the 11 years 50m breaststroke, third in the 11 years 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly as well as third in the senior boys 200m medley.
“I like racing, and coming up against other kids and I like going away,” he said.
These three students will be competing at the Lismore Diocesan Swimming Carnival on Friday March 3.
