The host club won the first competition in 1997 and backed it up in 1999, but it has been lean pickings ever since.
They took out the competition with an impressive 16-run victory in the final over a St Andrews side packed with Macquarie Hotel first graders.
St Andrews were back together after several years in the wilderness and knocked over Port City Leagues Magpies and Port Pirates on their way to the final.
The home side defeated last years winners Wauchope RSL then a youthful Bonny Hills on their way to the final.
Ethan and Josh Hyde and Fraser Carroll all contributed with varying levels of success for St Andrews throughout the tournament with Carroll the last man dismissed for the tournament.
He was run out for 28 as St Andrews were dismissed for 106 in reply to Beechwood’s 122.
Beechwood captain Todd Watling was the star for his side with an unbeaten 30 in the tournament decider.
Organiser Darren McCudden said conditions were challenging at the start of the day before the rain cleared off the mountain.
“It was real wet in the first game, but then it was pretty good conditions after that,” he said.
“It’s been a while for us between victories.
“The standard of cricket was pretty good throughout the day – probably a bit better than in previous years.
“St Andrews were a really good side so it was good for the Beechwood boys to beat them.”
Earlier in the day, Port Pirates and BDM Constructions had arguably the worst of the conditions with rain falling throughout BDM’s innings.
When the clouds and rain cleared, Pirates cruised to victory.
McCudden said it was a successful day overall and they were looking to the 22nd edition of the competition next year.
“We had a fair crowd in the end, but it was difficult to get everyone there at the one time,” he said.
“In saying that, we ran out of tucker in the end because it was a good day to eat and drink. It wasn’t too hot.”
The Judy Fowler Player of the Tournament was awarded to Kahlan Duncan while the Brett Border most inspirational junior was given to Fraser Carroll.
Ethan Hyde was the star with the bat and scored the most runs, while Carroll registered the best bowling figures throughout the tournament.
Beau White, Matt Bird and Kahlan Duncan hit the most sixes.
Fraser Carroll won the 100-metre sprint.
Andrew Murrell took out the longest throw, while Kenny Bennett was nearest to the pin.
