At 26 minutes past midnight, Fire and Rescue Wauchope were called to a fire in a utility vehicle in Commerce Street in the town’s industrial area.
It was well alight, in the loop near the waste transfer station.
The ute was totally destroyed by fire and the flames had reached the bush.
Fire and Rescue Wauchope captain, Robert Pursehouse says it was a lucky save.
“We did stop the grass/bush fire which had sparked in the vacant blocks from spreading to buildings nearby,” he said.
