Wauchope Council meeting
At last week’s council meeting in Wauchope, residents donned their raincoats and gumboots and braved the weather to engage with councillors and council executives on a number of local issues.
The community heard council is in a good financial position and will remain focused on the key areas for our community. Council is committed to reducing the infrastructure backlog and continuing to pay attention to core services including water, sewer, stormwater and roads. Over the next four years we will build on our infrastructure and renovate and rejuvenate our community.
Council meetings are generally on the third Wednesday of each month from 5.30pm. We thank our community groups across our local government area for their interest, effort and passion for our region.

Welcome new citizens
Last week we welcomed 14 new citizens and, in the past six months, more than 80 new citizens have joined our region from all corners of the globe. They celebrate what it means to be an Australian and we embrace the diversity and culture they all bring to our region.
Each was presented with their certificate after making a solemn commitment to uphold the values, privileges and responsibilities of being Australian. Citizenship ceremonies give new citizens the chance to celebrate the final important step in their migration to our great country.
