Registered Nurses Lyn Barker, Sue Carter and Palliative Care Nursing Unit Manager Mary Trotter have a brave new look after raising $650 for the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute at Port Macquarie and $2500 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
The team’s efforts were part of the World’s Greatest Shave event and attracted the support of their work colleagues, patients and family members.
The trio bravely yielded to the clippers, skilfully used by Enrolled Nurse Lisa Tyrell who resurrected her hairdressing skills from years gone by to deliver a slick ‘number one’ for each fundraiser.
Acting Director of Nursing-Executive Officer Helen Byrnes was among the crowd gathered together to witness the close crop for her staff.
“I’ve got to say, Lyn, Sue and Mary are three very brave women,” Ms Byrnes said.
“They have raised a lot of money for two very good causes, and they look fantastic.
“We are all very proud of them, particularly as they each have conferences, weddings and other special events in their diaries this month.”
Funds can still be donated online at worldsgreatestshave.com – go to Wauchope Hospital, or to support local cancer patients, leave a cash donation at Wauchope Hospital’s administration desk.
