He grew it to the longest it’s ever been and then had it shaved off in front of the assembly at Wauchope High School.
“It was a bit weird, in front of everyone, and my head was instantly colder,” said Josh, who’s 16.
He raised almost $500 from family, friends and teachers and donations are still coming in to the school’s front office.
His parents, Mark and Janet watched the shave and found it quite emotional, because Josh’s grandfather has just passed away from cancer.
“We’re very proud of Josh,” said mum, Janet.
“But my hair products have been disappearing over the past year.”
Hairdresser Mandi Hill saw a post on Facebook and came from Kendall to help out, free of charge.
“It’s close to my heart. I did a shave for a cure three years ago. I think Josh is amazing,” she said.
School principal Glen Sawle said it’s great to see kids prepared to get involved in fundraising.
“It just shows that we are very much a school about supporting people in our community,” he said.
