They had games and activities and a delicious meal on Saturday May 13 in the Wauchope Scout Hall in Tallowood Avenue.
The group now has 22 youth members and six adult leaders and Troop Leader Lachlan Eggert enjoys every minute of what it means to be a scout.
We do traditional things like light fires and cook sausages but we’re getting in touch with the modern world, with IT badges.

“We go to big camps, like the jamboree in Sydney where there were 16,000 people. We do traditional things like light fires and cook sausages but we’re getting in touch with the modern world, with IT badges,” he said.
You can now do badges in First Aid, ANZAC Day, music and cultural heritage. There are fun days and movie nights.
The State Commissioner for Scouts Chris Buggie was delighted to be a guest at the dinner.
“It’s an awesome event. As an organisation, we are evolving and the youth are more involved in decision-making,” he said.
Wauchope Group Leader, Heather Lattimore, known as Smurf, has been involved in the movement for more than 20 years.
“I just love working with the kids and seeing them out and about. We have girls now, and kids with disabilities,” she said.
12-year-old Sasha Burns is one of the few girls in the troop and says it’s sometimes tough.
“We have some people who swear and each time they swear, they have to put money in the swear jar,” she said.
Former scout leader Gordon Robinson and his wife Jean had four sons in the cubs and the scouts.
“It was a good move extending the hall. It’s certainly been well-used,” said Gordon.
And judging from the enthusiasm of the scouts at the big birthday party, the Wauchope troop will be around for many more years to come.
