Lifeline in Cameron Street had their best week of the whole year. Manager Adrienne Van Spanje said they sold lost of small items like cutlery and crockery as well as blankets and sleeping bags.
“It was a bit colder here than some of them were expecting. They told us we would get folding chairs and tables back, so I got on to the organisers, and we put some bins up at the Showground and now we’ve got the stuff back,” she said.
Adrienne found the Ulysses club members fascinating.
“They came from all over the country, and they were so pleasant. We sold ball dresses for the governors ball and we sold clothes that they made into costumes for the convicts and wenches ball.
“We knew they were coming so we'd put aside a lot of bike-related stuff and we had that on display. They seemed to really enjoy that and we sold practically everything we had in the way of jeans, bike jackets, boots. Everybody was very impressed.” she added.
Adrienne says the whole week was very exciting.
“We would have them back any time. Wauchope really came together and everybody seemed united in enjoyment of the Ulysses visitors,” she said.
