A fund raising night at the Wauchope RSL Club has helped boost the level of support for the eight walkers.
The group’s spokesperson Ann Eggert says they have received tremendous support for their ‘adventure’.
“We have been overwhelmed and humbled by the level of support - the large amount of money raised has not only secured their place in the event, but will probably also allow them to nominate a starting time, something which was so far from their reach they didn’t even have it on their radar," Mrs Eggert said.
“To our many sponsors, to the almost 40 local businesses who donated gift baskets and vouchers, to the Wauchope RSL for the venue and to Crazy Party Hire for the beautiful decorations we thank you.”
“The night was an event not be missed with both young and old dancing the night away to the awesome sound of local band Smooth Moves – if you haven’t already heard these guys do yourself a favor and go along to their next gig … and wear your dancing shoes.
“Through your generous donations they have raised over $9000 – with the majority of that coming from the fundraiser night.”
Their journey is far from over, however, and they will continue to post pictures on their Oxfam Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/235013226960649/) and on their teamspace pages (https://trailwalker.oxfam.org.au/my/team/26476 & https://trailwalker.oxfam.org.au/my/team/26501) up to and including ‘The Main Event’ on August 25th.
They would love you to follow their adventure and to be a part of it - because without your encouragement and unwavering support they would not be on this journey.
