Each year JTS Automotive, who are the proprietors of the Hastings NRMA offices, provide each staff member with funds to benefit a local charity, community or sporting club.
This time, the Camden Haven Hockey Club were given a generous cash donation from NRMA Port Macquarie, Laurieton and Wauchope and JTS Automotive.
The $300 cheque was presented at one of the junior rounds by NRMA staff members Shari Rhook and Prue Carter.
Terry Rhook, the team coach said the donation was very generous.
“It was also very timely, given that the club were recently discussing the purchasing of some very expensive safety equipment for our Junior players,” said Terry.
“Hockey is a fast and fun game for all ages, with players from five years to 65 years, with safety and playing equipment requiring either updating or replacing regularly, and the generous offer from NRMA and JTS Automotive has allowed Camden Haven Hockey Club to do just that,” he said.
Camden Haven Hockey introduced juniors to its club ranks only three years ago, and Mr Rhook said they’ve experienced tremendous success in a very short period of time, managing to secure finals berths in nearly every age group from under 5’s to under 16’s.
“In last year’s season our under 11’s were undefeated for a second year running, to claim the premiership for the second season in a row and our under 13’s played out the Grand Final last season as well,” said Mr Rhook.
The junior boys and girls always perform well on the representative stage, with quite a number of players from Camden Haven making up teams in all age groups.
“This very generous donation from NRMA and JTS Automotive will go a long way to ensuring that we can continue to provide the same type of opportunities to our developing junior players,” said Terry Rhook.
The coach said Camden Haven Hockey Club would like to take this opportunity to thank NRMA and JTS Automotive for their generous support, not only this season but in seasons past as well. He said it was a wonderful example of a prominent local business helping a local developing sporting club.
