Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people make up 239 of the male population and 272 of the female population. The median age was 16 years.
The average family has 1.9 children and there are 2,643 private dwellings in the town. The median weekly household income is $920, median monthly mortgage repayments are $1,473 and median weekly rent is $290.
85% of Wauchope people were born in Australia, 145 in England, 60 in New Zealand, 26 in the Philippins, 24 in Scotland and 15 in Germany.
The town’s religious populations look like this:
- Anglican: 1,626 which is 25.7%
- Catholic: 1,3353 which is 21.4%
- Not stated: 552, which is 8%
- Uniting Church: 418, which is 6.6%
1,518 or 24% described themselves as having no religion.
In Wauchope ,of all households, 68.1% were family households, 29.5% were single person households and 2.4% were group households.
The median weekly personal income for people aged 15 years and over in Wauchope was $488.
Of people in Wauchope aged 15 years and over, 42% were married and 16.6% were either divorced or separated.
30.3% of people were attending an educational institution. Of these, 29.0% were in primary school, 22.2% in secondary school and 13.5% in a tertiary or technical institution.
