This is a day the Thunder started back in 2015 when their close friend and team mate John Tavaga’s wife, Taegan Grace passed from cervical cancer. They continued it in 2016 and will again this year.
This year, however, it has now become a day to not only remember Taegan Grace but also their friend John Tavaga who tragically lost his life late last year.
The under-16s Thunder team suffered a loss to the Pirates as did the women’s team. In reserve grade, teams played 11-a-side and it was a tough battle, with Thunder losing despite scoring several tries.
Fullback Ty Williams was the best on field, scoring a hattrick. The first of his tries came from some nice work by fly half Josh Guthrie, his second from a Matt Attard offload and the third a 60 metre individual piece of brilliance.
Full report from first grade still to come.
