The election was triggered by the resignation of Peter Besseling.
The five candidates, in ballot paper order, are Sharon Griffiths (independent), Lisa Intemann (independent), Lauren Edwards (The Greens), Peta Pinson (independent) and Robert Turner (independent).
They were all present at the Wauchope event, hosted by the town’s Chamber of Commerce.
Each had five minutes to tell the community why they are the right candidate for the job and then there were questions from the floor.
The Camden Haven community will be able to quiz the mayoral hopefuls at a Meet The Candidates evening on Thursday July 20 from 7pm at the Laurieton United Services Club.
And in Port Macquarie, the Residents Action Network have organised a Meet the Candidates event at 5.30pm on Wednesday July 26 at Port City Bowling Club.
