Wauchope people are watching with interest to see what impact the new mayor, Peta Pinson will have here.
The Wauchope Chamber of Commerce welcomed Ms Pinson and looks forward to working with her on issues of importance to the Wauchope and surrounding communities.
The Chamber thanked all the candidates for putting up their hand to represent our beautiful region and wished them well.
The Wauchope Community Progress Association also welcomed the election of Peta Pinson as mayor, the first woman to hold that position.
“Her success will depend on establishing good working relations with other councillors as well as senior council staff,” said a spokesman.
“The fact that we now have three representatives on council augers well for the town.
“We are still awaiting funding for a proper pool upgrade (rather than just basic maintenance), for the next stage of the Hastings Regional Sporting Facility, and for progress on the plan for upgrading High Street,” he added.
Wauchope District Historical Society also congratulated Ms Pinson.
“We trust that the cordial and cooperative relationship with Council we enjoyed under Mayor Besseling will continue.
“We look forward to Mayor Pinson’s assistance with the several new and continuing projects in which WDHS has a part,” said a spokesperson.
“It is hoped these will realise significant arts, cultural and heritage infrastructure in the Hastings hinterland with recreational and educational opportunities for our community at large and increasing economic benefits for local business,” she added.
Ms Pinson said her whole focus is in representing the needs of this growing community.
She said she would lead the council in looking to new and different ways of delivering services through innovation, seeking different opportunities and partnering with the community.
