The section of Beechwood Road between Bain Bridge and the Beechwood township will be rehabilitated to increase the service life of the road and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
The council says road quality will be improved resulting in a smoother ride for drivers and an improved safety outcome for the community.
Works will take approximately six weeks to complete (weather permitting) and include milling of the existing road surface, stabilisation of the existing pavement and application of a bitumen seal.
Electronic sign boards are in place, and during the works part road closure and stop/go traffic control will ensure the safety of road users and work crews.
The council manages nearly 900km of sealed and 465km of unsealed roads within the Port Macquarie-Hastings region and has recently undertaken road maintenance improvements on Ocean Drive in Bonny Hills and King Creek Road, Sarah’s Crescent and Stoney Creek Road in Wauchope.
A spokesman said the stabilisation works and safety improvements to this stretch of Beechwood Road form part of more than $35 million that the council will invest in road and transport infrastructure, maintenance and upgrades during the 2017/2018 financial year.
The council thanks the local community and businesses for their cooperation and patience during the Beechwood Road works, and for the ongoing commitment to working with Council to improve the safety of our region’s sealed and unsealed road networks.
