Smith re-signed with the Brumbies for another season, which will be his eighth with the two-time Super Rugby champions.
The 32-year-old has spent two stints in Canberra for a make 65 appearances for the club.
He's also spent time with Munster and Montpellier in Europe before he returned to the club where he made his debut.
Smith can can play in either the centres or on the wing and that versatility was one of the reasons Brumbies coach Dan McKellar has kept him at the club.
"It's great for the club to have someone of Andrew's experience signed up for the 2018 Super Rugby season," McKellar said.
"Smithy's experience and ability to cover a number of positions makes him a valuable member of our group."
