Having begun her dance career as a child in the back of her mum’s dance studio in Cairns, Jade says that dancing was always something she was going to do.
“From as early as I can remember, I spent my days at my mum’s studio and from as soon as I could walk, I began taking classes, and it has really just gone on from then,” she said.
“I think I always thought one day I would be a ballerina.”
Jade moved to Melbourne to continue dancing, and signed with the Australian Ballet company in 2010, before being made a soloist at the beginning of 2017. She says a day in her life consists of rehearsals and performing.
“The best part about being a ballerina is that I get to share my passion with the audience every night, and with my colleagues all day long.
“Being able to show people such a unique art form is something I really enjoy, and for me, touring with the company has been a great way to get out and see Australia, with people in smaller towns so enthusiastic when we come and visit,” she said.

“Each day we have a morning class where we warm up our bodies and practice the ballet we are working on, which can be up to two or three different ballets at once, before a rest and another class before getting ready for a performance in the evening.”
“When we are on tour, it is a little bit different because when we get to a new town we need to practice so we get a feel for the theatre as they are all a bit different, but we still have our morning and afternoon classes on the road,” she said.
The Australian Ballet is coming to the Glasshouse in Port Macquarie on Saturday October 21, to perform Giselle.
