First family fun day at Bundaleer a big success | photos

The rain may have put a dampener on things, but spirits were high at the first inaugural Bundaleer Family Fun Day.

“We seem to be a drought breaker” joked Bundaleer CEO Gareth Norman.

“We first tried to hold the Family Day event in March this year as a way of saying thanks to the wonderful Wauchope Community for supporting us over the last 37 years.

“Sadly we had to cancel the day due to flooding, and as you know we have had brilliant weather since, right up until this weekend, if you can believe it. But we were determined not to let a little bit of water get in the way of a good time again and thankfully the rain held off until 2pm”.

The Family Fun Day included free activities for the young and young at heart, including jumping castles, a giant slide, velcro wall, mechanical bull, bungee run, sumo suits, pony rides and live music from 10am.

Mr Norman said they were also thrilled to have the support of the local community, with the Hastings Co-op featuring tastings of Bago Bluff products and their popular chocolate wheel, the Holiday Coast provided complimentary sunscreen and giveaways, the Fire and Rescue NSW team were a big hit with kids keen to clamber all over a real life fire engine and the Wauchope Lions Club did a roaring trade on the BBQ.

He said days like these can’t happen without community support, and thanked local schools and businesses for helping to promote the event, as well as the local community for coming. In all, over 1000 people came and enjoyed the day, including residents and their families from both the Cameron St and Johnstone Street facilities, the Independent Living Village and families from the wider Wauchope area.”

“It has been wonderful to have the support of the local community today.  The feedback we received as our guests were leaving was so positive and we are so thrilled that plans are already in the works for a bigger and better event next year,” said Mr Norman.
