Year nine students from Taree, Wauchope, Kempsey and Wingham delighted in a potions class with Professor Snape, also known as Professor Nigel Urwin, along with workshops in law and medical science and a campus tour.
Kate Wood-Foye, director of external engagement at Charles Sturt University said it was a great day for everyone.
"Today our Hogwarts inspired potions creation session lead by our very own Professor Snape added that essential element of fun and curiosity to the on campus experience," Mrs Wood-Foye said.
"The day is about inspiring aspiration in younger students through a creative approach so that when they finish school they know what is possible."
The day was part of Charles Sturt's Future Moves program and Port Macquarie director, Tanya Brown, said it was all designed to get students thinking about tertiary education.
"Future Moves is about engaging with young people to promote an awareness and understanding about tertiary education," Ms Brown said.
"We work with 80 schools across all our campuses and with 18 across the Mid North Coast at our campus in Port Macquarie.
"Today we had year nine students from schools across the Mid North Coast and showing them some of the interesting, fun and different things they can do at university.
"Some of our current students participated in a student panel so high school students could ask questions about life at university and the day gave everyone a chance to mingle is a fun way."
