The match was played in front of a strong home crowd at the Lank Bain Sporting Complex. And it was a cracking match.Dustin Prosser scored the match-winner for the Blues with six minutes left on the clock. Two tries each to Anthony Coombes and Chris Trembath were also part of the win. Glen Littler, Tristram Morris, Ethan Hyde and Ben Hyde scored tries for the Breakers.Jesse Gleeson looked to score in the opening three minutes, but was brought down by a good tackle from Robbie Trembath.Wauchope went close at the other end, but Nick McCabe was brought down just short. But the Blues eventually crossed after 11 minutes, when the Blues put the ball through the hands for the winger Coombes. He scored in the corner for a 4-0 lead. They put together some good on-line defence to keep the Breakers out, but Glen Littler barged over in the corner to level the score.Wauchope looked to hit back down the sideline, when Chris Trembath delivered a nice ball to Coombes, but Josh Osborne was on hand to force him into touch with a superb tackle.Josh Hyde went in under the posts as the half wore down, but was penalised for a double movement.Osborne made another break, before the ball was stripped from Ethan Hyde adjacent to the sticks on the next play.Ackroyd kicked the goal, but another converted try from Coombes gave Wauchope the ascendancy again, after a lovely chip kick from Aaron Ison. The Trembath brothers combined for the next try, with Robbie offloading to Chris.Watts added the extras for a 14-6 lead. Two Hydes scored in quick succession but Ackroyd wasn't having much luck with his kicking, missing both attempts. Wauchope built up steady pressure on the Breakers, and the defence eventually cracked for Trembath to score his second try - again off a Robbie Trembath inside ball to score under the posts. But the game was far from over. Tristram Morris and Dustin Prosser scored tries before the final siren. And while the Group 3 player of the match award justifiably went to Robbie Trembath, there was little doubt that Chris Trembath, Coombes and the vastly-improved Billy Berne also played strongly. For the Breakers, none tried harder than hooker and captain Glenn Littler. The match was probably best summed up by Robbie Trembath in his acceptable speech at the end of the contest: "I thought the Breakers were probably the better side on the day but we took all our chances."
